Sewing Basics: Sew a Tote Bag Workshop with Made
Take your sewing skills and confidence to the next level in this fun and engaging class! Perfect for those who have completed a beginner sewing class or have basic machine experience, this session focuses on creating a versatile canvas tote bag with handy inside pockets. You’ll learn new techniques like working with heavier fabrics, creating pocket seams, and attaching handles.
Once your tote is complete, the fun continues as you customize it with iron-on letters to make it uniquely yours!
BYOB - Here's a list of items to bring to the workshop:
- Sewing machine (Limited number of sewing machines can be made available if you do not have one. Please reach out if you are not able to secure a sewing machine to bring with you)
- Basic sewing tools: scissors, straight pins, measuring tape or seam ruler, cream thread, bobbin, Jean sewing machine needle
Included in the workshop fee:
- Sewing machine diagram worksheet
- Practice sheets
- Step-by-step instruction guide
- Cream canvas for the outside of the bag and handles
- Your choice of fabric for the lining of your tote (Choose caramel or cream in the drop-down options)
- Customizable, black iron-on characters
- Light snacks will be provided
Start thinking of what you want to spell out and iron onto your tote (limit to 25 characters). The instructor will reach out to you to ensure enough characters are available at the workshop.
